It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Paul McCartney energies, virtually a rebirth. It has been eleven years Paul McCartney’ last studio CD, “Red Rose Speedway” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. ‘Red Rose Speedway’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is My Love
One of the more genuine-sounding songs is My Love. The opening track Get On The Right Thing is very much like you would expect from other albums. After about the third One More Kiss listen through, I began to believe this song is Paul McCartney’s essence. Paul McCartney is hitting on all cylinders in Little Lamb Dragonfly. Single Pigeon - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. When The Night is the more seemingly obscure song on Red Rose Speedway that bear up best to repeated listening. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. In Hold Me Tight / Lazy Dynamite / Hands Of Love / Power Cut it becomes nowhere more obvious that Paul McCartney has yet to define own style. I Lie Around (Bonus Track) is a good listen every once in a while. Only one song from Red Rose Speedway named Country Dreamer (Bonus Track) really got me. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think The Mess (Recorded Live At The Hague) (Bonus Track) is my favorite song on Red Rose Speedway.
