When you buy a Phil Collins album, you know exactly what you’re getting! There is so much to love about Phil Collins, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is the first studio album from Phil Collins since bad diagnosis in 1981. Overall, I would highly recommend Face Value CD.
This Must Be Love is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Face Value. Some call The Roof Is Leaking from Face Value as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. In Droned it becomes nowhere more obvious that Phil Collins has yet to define own style. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Hand In Hand is my favorite song on Face Value. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. The sound in You Know What I Mean is really warm and Phil Collins’s signature voice is still very much present. Thunder and Lightning is probably the highlight of the album. I’m Not Moving is one of the best records ever. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Tomorrow Never Knows is almost impossible to review.
