There is no doubt that Philip Glass has talent. Lead single “Part 1″ and “Part 2″ start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Since completing 1975’s ‘Part 1′, Philip Glass fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Exciting stuff.
Best song on the album, love it. Part 3 - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Philip Glass. I believe Part 4 is one of the most perfect, heartfelt songs ever written. Philip Glass sings Part 5 [Beginning] in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Part 5 [Conclusion] is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. I find myself hearing bits of Part 6 here and there throughout my waking hours. Part 7 is one of the best records ever. Part 8 is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. The song feels complete. Part 10 is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Music in Twelve Parts is Part 11. Part 12 - Check out that bassline!
