Phong Nguyks was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Phong Nguyks and Vietnamese Instrumental Music together. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Phong Nguyks. It has been twelve years Phong Nguyks’ last studio CD, “Vietnamese Instrumental Music” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Such great and happy songs.
Although Nam Huk (Nostalgia) is very melodic it is far from sad. Ai Oan (Lamentation) is one of my favorite songs by Phong Nguyks. Overall a nice softer song. Sa Mac (Melancholy) - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. After few listenings I started to like Thikn (Meditation) more and more. Improvisations - For me, this is the best of the album.
