It has been four years Queen’ last studio CD, “Sheer Heart Attack” which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Lead single “Brighton Rock” and “Killer Queen” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Jim Jones has compared writing for Queen’s new album to that on ‘Sheer Heart Attack’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Killer Queen
Queen emotions are reflected through Killer Queen. Tenement Funster is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Flick of the Wrist is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Now I’m Here is simple, dignified and effective, Queen refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. I like to sing along with In The Lap of the Gods, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Stone Cold Crazy is such a cool and optimistic song that things can get just better. Dear Friends is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Misfire (1:50) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Bring Back That Leroy Brown - My least favorite song on this album. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Queen breathes new life into the music in In the Lap of the Gods… Revisited.
