Matchbook isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. After seeing Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, I had to have a good Ralph Towner and Gary Burton cd. Since Ralph Towner and Gary Burton last CD (Matchbook) on EMI Records back in 1975, I have felt a massive void in my life. Check it every song is worth the money for the Matchbook CD!
Aurora is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. Matchbook is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Voice of Ralph Towner and Gary Burton in Song For A Friend is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Although Brotherhood is very melodic it is far from sad. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Strong, powerful vocals of Ralph Towner and Gary Burton in Drifting Petals are very impressive.
