On Portrait Of Genius album, Ravi Shankar have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Lead single “Tala Rasa Ranga” and “Dhun” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Portrait Of Genius is an amazing album, racked with beauty.I wish that “Portrait Of Genius” album was instrumental.
Dhun - For me, this is the best of the album. I can’t stop humming along Tabla-Dhwani. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. What sets Tala-Tabla Tarang apart is Ravi Shankar’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Gat Kirwani without a doubt is the standout song of Portrait Of Genius. Raga Multani is one of the more up-tempo songs on Portrait Of Genius.
