Since Reinhard Mey last CD (Die Zwoelfte) on Columbia Records back in 1983, I have felt a massive void in my life. Since completing 1983’s ‘Was In Der Zeitung Steht’, Reinhard Mey fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Die Zwoelfte is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Die Zwoelfte is not something you should pass up.
In Hilf Mir the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. This is probably my favorite song on the album. The song Ich Wuerde Gern Einmal In Dresden Singen ending is my favorite… so catchy! An Meine Alte Jacke is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Jahr Fuer Jahr - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Auf Eines Bunten Vogels Schwingen is the albums biggest surprise. Verkehrslagebericht catches attention immediately, Ich Habe Nie Mehr Langeweile is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Die Erste Stunde rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Im Berg - I just love it. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect.
