After seeing Zwischen Kiez und Kudamm, I had to have a good Reinhard Mey cd. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Reinhard Mey’s album Ikarus falls to No. 2 with 166,000, a sales slide of 81%. This is the first studio album from Reinhard Mey since bad diagnosis in 1975. This is what good Chanson should be.
Hab Erdm Garten without a doubt is the standout song of Ikarus. Weil ich ein Meteorologe bin is a great opener for Ikarus. Die Homestory is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Once you hear Einen Koffer in jeder Hand, you will listen to it over and over. I find myself hearing bits of Es schneit in meinen Gedanken here and there throughout my waking hours. Ikarus is a bit different from Reinhard Mey stereotypical stuff. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Es gibt Tage, da w ich, ich w mein Hund. In Du bist die Stille Reinhard Mey is at his best. Overall a nice softer song. Es bleibt eine Narbe zur - another great track from the Ikarus album. Mein guter alter Balthasar rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo.
