Since completing 1979’s ‘Jekyll and Hyde’, Renaissance fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Mila Sparrow has compared writing for Renaissance’s new album to that on ‘Azure d’Or’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Renaissance on ‘Jekyll and Hyde’. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
Renaissance must have run out of lyrics on the next track The Winter Tree. In Only Angels Have Wings the music gets its power. Golden Key - This is a very lively song. Forever Changing which is my favorite is a truly Renaissance sounding song. Secret Mission stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Kalynda (a magical isle) - To me, this is the best song on the Azure d’Or. The Discovery - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Friends is astounding. The Flood at Lyons is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day.
