This is the first studio album from Renaissance since bad diagnosis in 1977. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Renaissance energies, virtually a rebirth. Lead single “Can You Hear Me?” and “The Sisters” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Novella is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
The Sisters is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Renaissance has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Voice of Renaissance in The Captive Heart is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Touching Once (Is So Hard To Keep) is a cool song and it grows on you.
