IF YOU LIKE ALL Retro - Various Artists’S SONG GO FOR IT! On Anni Di Hit Parade (1961) album, Retro - Various Artists have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. There is so much to love about Retro - Various Artists, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. If I may, I suggest “24 Mila Baci - Adriano Celentano”. That one song is amazing!
This is probably my favorite song on the album. Al Di La - Luciano Tajoli - Check out that bassline! This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Lyrics of Bambina Bambina - Tony Dallara are precise and evocative. Besame Mucho - Ray Conniff - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. I find myself hearing bits of Brigitte Bardot - Michelino here and there throughout my waking hours. I can’t stop humming along C Est ecrit Dans Le Ciel - Bob Azzam. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Cercami - Ornella Vanoni is probably one of Retro - Various Artists’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Chitarra Romana - Connie Francis is one of the best records ever. Ciao ti dire - Adriano Celentano very upbeat. Cinderella - Paul Anka is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Come Sinfonia - Pino Donaggio is outstanding work of Retro - Various Artists. Flamenco Rock - Milva is really a nice song to relax and listen too. In Gi Blues - Elvis Presley full palet of sound is used by Retro - Various Artists to accentuate the presentation. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Anni Di Hit Parade (1961) is Giovane amore - Domenico Modugno. Heartbreakin Special - The Fendermen is the more seemingly obscure song on Anni Di Hit Parade (1961) that bear up best to repeated listening. In Il Cane Di Stoffa - Pino Donaggio you won’t find any flashy solos. Il Capello - Edoardo Vianello is a good listen every once in a while. Il Mare Nel Cassetto - Milva Gino Latilla is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Il Mondo Di Suzie Wong - Nico Fidenco the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Il Tango Delle Rose - Joe Damiano (2:41) a good melody. Album opener Il Villaggio Sul Fiume - Pino Donaggio is a bright, upbeat ditty. The sound in Just The Same Old Line - Nico Fidenco is really warm and Retro - Various Artists’s signature voice is still very much present. This song is dynamic and dramatic. L Ultima Lettera - Gianni Meccia gets you up and jumping. I think La Ballata Del Cerutti - Giorgio Gaber is the best song Retro - Various Artists has ever done. La La La La - Alberto Lionello defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. La Novia - Domenico Modugno as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Blew our minds when we first heard Per Un Attimo - Peppino Di Capri. All of songs on Anni Di Hit Parade (1961) and have something to say letting alone Pera Matura - Pino Donaggio. Piscatore E Pusilleco - Aurelio Fierro is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Music in Pollo E Champagne - Gemelle Kessler is astounding as in all tracks of Anni Di Hit Parade (1961). Tony Dallara - Bambina Innamorata is nothing but pure genius. Such hits like Tre Briganti E Tre Somari - Domenico Modugno will leave you hooked.
