On Garden of Love album, Rick James and Stone City Band have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. After seeing Big time, I had to have a good Rick James and Stone City Band cd. For older fans Garden of Love will put a massive smile accross your face. Great Jazz: Funk right here!
This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Garden of Love. I now have Island lady as one of my personal favorites. Music and lyrics of Gettin’ it on (in the sunshine) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Mary-go-round is the albums biggest surprise. Opening track Gettin’ it on (in the sunshine) reprise shows the best of Rick James and Stone City Band.
