Rick James and Stone City Band was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Rick James and Stone City Band and Out From The Shadow together. This is the first studio album from Rick James and Stone City Band since bad diagnosis in 1983. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Rick James and Stone City Band on ‘Bad lady’. Out From The Shadow is the best essence of Rick James and Stone City Band.
Voice of Rick James and Stone City Band in Love hassles is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. I can’t stop playing Spend the night. Telephone is probably one of Rick James and Stone City Band’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Out From The Shadow. Strong, powerful vocals of Rick James and Stone City Band in Shake (make your body move) are very impressive. Dance is so fine is a marvelous song and it grows on you. Lover and only man is another strong production from Rick James and Stone City Band.
