Lead single “International Flag” and “The Dove” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Mila Sparrow has compared writing for Rick Wakeman’s new album to that on ‘G’ole!’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. When you buy a Rick Wakeman album, you know exactly what you’re getting! This is what good Rock: Progressive should be.
It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Wayward Spirit has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Rick Wakeman’s strong vocals come to the fore. Listening to Latin Reel you can hear that Rick Wakeman has still amazing chemistry with band members. Red Island marked the continuation of Rick Wakeman in style evolution. Some of the arrangements found on G’ole! are surprisingly edgy. No Possibla pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Shadows is another favourite of mine. Black Pearls is one of the coolest songs Rick Wakeman has ever recorded. Rick Wakeman breathes new life into the music in Frustration. Spanish Montage is such a astounding and optimistic song that things can get just better. G’ole is a fine track on any terms.
