This album has some very good songs like Pedra De Gaves and Front Line. Jim Jones has compared writing for Rick Wakeman’s new album to that on ‘Rhapsodies’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Rick Wakeman had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. This is my first Rick Wakeman Album and i must say i am blown away.
This track is full of harmonies and gets Rhapsodies off to a relaxing start. I loved Bombay Duck the first time I heard it. I like to sing along with Animal Showdown (Yes We Have No Bananas), though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Strong, powerful vocals of Rick Wakeman in Big Ben are very impressive. Rhapsody In Blue is simply marvelous. Charming song, great melody. The Pulse is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. There is excellent mix of music in Swan Lager. March Of The Gladiators is another favourite of mine. Although Falcons De Neige is very melodic it is far from sad. I like the agression and power of The Flasher. Rhapsodies couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track The Palais. Album opener Stand By is a bright, upbeat ditty. Sea Horses is probably one of Rick Wakeman’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Half Holiday is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. This track is a great song that still never gets old.
