Jim Jones has compared writing for Rock - Various Artists’s new album to that on ‘Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. This disc has all of the essential Rock - Various Artists classics. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Meanstreak (AC/DC) have really caught my ear and imagination. Thunderstruck (AC/DC) on Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock is solid and easy to listen to. Bone To Bone (Aerosmith) is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Round and Round (Aerosmith) gives good insight into the truths. Walk This Way (Aerosmith) is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. (I’m) Eighteen (Alice Cooper) is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. I was truly moved when I heard Welcome To My Nightmare (Alice Cooper). Not Fragile (Bachman-Turner Overdrive) the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Hole In The Sky (Black Sabbath) has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Iron Man (Black Sabbath) is a bit of a show-tune. Paranoid (Black Sabbath) - arguably the best track on Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock album. Rock’n'Roll Doctor (Black Sabbath) catches attention immediately, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (Black Sabbath) is a great opener for Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock. Gloria’s Eyes (Bruce Springsteen) as a highlight of Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock contains a ton of perfect melodies. Born On The Bayou (Creedence Clearwater Revival) presents the excellent mix of instruments on Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock. Run Through The Jungle (Creedence Clearwater Revival) - A strong beat. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Burn (Deep Purple) is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. So much energy, so exciting a sound.I Need Love (Deep Purple) defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Rat Bat Blue (Deep Purple) - I like this one. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Smoke On The Water (Deep Purple) is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Stormbringer (Deep Purple) is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Woman From Tokyo (Deep Purple) - Rock - Various Artists first major hit. Hysteria (Def Leppard) (5:57) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Let’s Get Rocked (Def Leppard) - I just love it. I Just Want To Make Love To You (Foghat) is astounding. Rock - Various Artists sings his heart out in Urgent (Foreigner). I like to sing along with Ten Feet Tall (Geordie), though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. We’re An American Band (Grand Funk) is the exquisite blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Shinin’ On (Grand Funk Railroad) is just simply stunning. All of songs on Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock and have something to say letting alone The Loco-Motion (Grand Funk Railroad). Born To Be Wild (INXS) - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Move Over (Janis Joplin) is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Fire (Jimi Hendrix) - A nice song. I hope to keep hearing Rock - Various Artists works for a long time to come. Rock - Various Artists offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. This song is dynamic and dramatic. The Old Man Down The Road (John Fogerty) one of the best in my collection. When listening to Meat City (John Lennon), it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Down The Road (Kansas) to me is the best you can get from Rock - Various Artists. Music of God Gave Rock’n'Roll To You (Kiss) is gentle, never overbearing. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Get Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock and turn on D’ yer Mak’er (Led Zeppelin) if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Heartbreaker (Led Zeppelin) is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Once you hear Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin), you will listen to it over and over. Rock’n'Roll (Led Zeppelin) as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Whole Lotta Love (Led Zeppelin) which is my favorite is a truly Rock - Various Artists sounding song. I like the agression and power of Mighty Quinn (Manfred Mann). Blew our minds when we first heard Lucky In Love (Mick Jagger). Beds Are Burning (Midnight Oil) is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. This track is a great song that still never gets old. A great put together song. In Born Under The Wrong Sign (Nazareth) it becomes nowhere more obvious that Rock - Various Artists has yet to define own style. Free Wheeler (Nazareth) is almost impossible to review. In Hair Of The Dog (Nazareth) Rock - Various Artists is at his best. Telegram (Nazareth) is one of the more up-tempo songs on Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock. We Are Animals (Nazareth) actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Rock - Various Artists’s face. Crazy Train (Ozzy Osbourne) is the more seemingly obscure song on Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock that bear up best to repeated listening. Monkberry Moon Delight (Paul McCartney) still maintains something of a specific flourish. Money (Pink Floyd) is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Take It Back (Pink Floyd) is a good listen every once in a while. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Starstruck (Rainbow) is a song to enjoy for years to come. Terrifying (The Rolling Stones) is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Hearts For Sale (The Rolling Stones) - This is a very lively song. Force Ten (Rush) is perfect. Blackout (Scorpions) is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Rock - Various Artists ever produced. In Can’t Live Without You (Scorpions) full palet of sound is used by Rock - Various Artists to accentuate the presentation. As always, Rock - Various Artists’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. I Won’t Let It appen Agen (Slade) was the first single release from the album Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock. Rock - Various Artists is hitting on all cylinders in Look At Last Nite (Slade). Born To Be Wild (Steppenwolf) is outstanding work of Rock - Various Artists. Too Much Time On My Hands (Styx) one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. The first time I listened to Can The Can (Suzi Quatro) I was struck by its excellent sound. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Put Hell Raiser (Sweet) into car stereo for your highway driving Song Buick Mackane (T.Rex) is actually a funny song. Changeling (The Doors) is the song that really did it for me. Album opener Roadhouse Blues (The Doors) is a bright, upbeat ditty. American Woman (The Guess Who) is a striking and quite long song. Heartbroken Bopper (The Guess Who) is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. After you’ve listened to Bitch (The Rolling Stones), most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. I think Steamy Window (Tina Turner) is the best song Rock - Various Artists has ever done. You have to get essence of the Gypsy Train (ToTo)’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Highway Lady (UFO) - For me, this is the best of the album. Easy Livin’ (Uriah Heep) is probably the highlight of the album. It’s such an underrated song. Music in Fuzzbox Voodoo (ZZ Top) is exquisite as in all tracks of Janis Joplin - 100 Hits Hard Rock. I believe Give It Up (ZZ Top) is one of the most marvelous, heartfelt songs ever written. Lyrics of La Grange (ZZ Top) are precise and evocative. Sharp Dressed Man (ZZ Top) is pretty funky and mellow.
