This album has some very good songs like Miss Ida B. and Mislead Mother. Self-described as Blues with lots of words, Roosevelt Sykes comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Now signed to Roosevelt Sykes’s Columbia Records, the title track from second album “The Honeydripper” leads Roosevelt Sykes’s back-to-school campaign. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Mislead Mother
Musically Mislead Mother is superior to other tracks in The Honeydripper. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. I Hate To Be Alone was the first single release from the album The Honeydripper. Jailboat is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Lonely Day - Check out that bassline! The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. I love the melodic melody of Pocketful Of Money and to this day it makes me feel good. Within the first few notes of She Ain’t For Nobody it’s perfectly clear that Roosevelt Sykes is living this song.
