Since completing 1980’s ‘Shinkicker’, Rory Gallagher fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It’s natural for Rory Gallagher to take a stab at ‘Shinkicker’ considering her long-professed love for East 17. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Rory Gallagher on ‘Shinkicker’. Music in Wayward Child is marvelous as in all tracks of Stage struck. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Moonchild is simple, dignified and effective, Rory Gallagher refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. A great put together song. There is amazing mix of music in Keychain. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Bought and Sold is outstanding work of Rory Gallagher. Voice of Rory Gallagher in The Last Of The Independents is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. After about the third Shadow Play listen through, I began to believe this song is Rory Gallagher’s essence.
