This is one of the best Cd’s Roy Buchanan has dropped to date. Since Roy Buchanan last CD (Buch and The Snake Stretchers) on Savoy Records back in 1971, I have felt a massive void in my life. Roy Buchanan’s debut, ‘Buch and The Snake Stretchers’, does not fit easily into one genre. This album is awesome.
This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Since You’ve Been Gone is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is I’m A Lonesome Fugitive because the melody in the chorus is so good. Roy Buchanan sings The Messiah Will Come Again in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Johnny B. Goode is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle.
