On Agadou album, Saragossa Band have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. It’s natural for Saragossa Band to take a stab at ‘Agadou’ considering her long-professed love for East 17. John Digester has compared writing for Saragossa Band’s new album to that on ‘Agadou’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
All of songs on Agadou and have something to say letting alone Malaika. Big Bamboo (Ay, Ay, Ay) - A classic Saragossa Band track. The opening track Surabaya is very much like you would expect from other albums. Ginger Red makes a person feel perfect. Rasta Man - Check out that bassline! Musically Holiday Nights is superior to other tracks in Agadou. Zabadak is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Agadou have ended. Pas Pleurer (Please, No More Crying) - For me, this is the best of the album. Samba Ole , Rumba Ok is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations.
