Since completing 1980’s ‘A Scarce O’Tatties/Lyndhurst’, Silly Wizard fulfilled their contract with Capitol Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Mila Sparrow has compared writing for Silly Wizard’s new album to that on ‘So Many Partings’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. When you buy a Silly Wizard album, you know exactly what you’re getting! A Scarce O’Tatties/Lyndhurst and The Valley of Strathmore is really good.
In The Valley of Strathmore the music gets its power. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. A.A. Cameron’s Strathspey/Mrs. Martha… gives good insight into the truths. Overall a nice softer song. The Highland Clearances is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Miss Catherine Brosnan - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. The opening track Miss Shepherd/Sweeney’s Buttermilk… is very much like you would expect from other albums.
