Since completing 1981’s ‘If I Was a Blackbird’, Silly Wizard fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. I am not a real Celtic music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Wild and Beautiful’ really is amazing. This is the first studio album from Silly Wizard since bad diagnosis in 1981. Unappreciated gift to Celtic
Pipe Major Donald Campbell/The Orphan/The Kestrel/Come Up Alang (Jigs) is probably the most interesting track on Wild and Beautiful. The Pearl is probably the highlight of the album. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Tha Mi Sgith (Strathspey)/Eck Stewart’s March/MacKenzie’s Fancy (Marches) - Check out that bassline! This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. A.B. Corsie (The Lad From Orkney)/Ril Bheara/Richard Dwyer’s (Reels) has a beautifully haunting disco flavor.
