It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Sister Sledge energies, virtually a rebirth. Since completing 1979’s ‘Lost In Music (Remix ‘84)’, Sister Sledge fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is the first studio album from Sister Sledge since bad diagnosis in 1979. I Love We Are Family from start to finish!
We Are Family (Remix) is a great opener for We Are Family. He’s The Greatest Dancer (1978) (Bonus) the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Blockbuster Boy (1977) (Bonus) is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. After you’ve listened to Cream Of The Crop (1976) (Bonus), most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Sister Sledge has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Sister Sledge offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. One More Time make listening to Sister Sledge like being in some sort of time warp. You’re A Friend To Me is the song that really did it for me. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in We Are Family. We Are Family is one of the coolest songs Sister Sledge has ever recorded. Thinking Of You is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Music in Somebody Loves Me is amazing as in all tracks of We Are Family. I hope to keep hearing Sister Sledge works for a long time to come. He’s The Greatest Dancer is a bit of a show-tune.
