Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Sonic Youth on ‘(She’s in A) Bad Mood’. There is so much to love about Sonic Youth, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Lead single “(She’s in A) Bad Mood” and “Protect Me You” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This album is awesome.
Protect Me You good vocals. In Freezer Burn/I Wanna Be Your Dog the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. The song Shaking Hell ending is my favorite… so catchy! In Inhuman the music gets its power. World Looks Red is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Confusion Is Next is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Making the Nature Scene is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. I listened to the opening track Kill Yr Idols and liked it a lot. Brother James still maintains something of a specific flourish. Early American makes a person feel marvelous. Shaking Hell [Live] great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.
