It’s natural for Soundtrack - Various Artists to take a stab at ‘Gonna Fly Now (Theme from Rocky)’ considering her long-professed love for Led Zeppelin. This album has some very good songs like Gonna Fly Now (Theme from Rocky) and Philadelphia Morning. Now signed to Soundtrack - Various Artists’s EMI Records, the title track from second album “Rocky” leads Soundtrack - Various Artists’s back-to-school campaign. Great Soundtrack right here!
Philadelphia Morning one of the best in my collection. When listening to Going the Distance, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Reflections is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Marines’ Hymm/Yankee Doodle - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Take You Back (Street Corner Song; Rocky) is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. I like the idea behind First Date. You Take My Heart Away which is my favorite is a truly Soundtrack - Various Artists sounding song. Fanfare for Rocky is probably the most interesting track on Rocky. Butkus is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. This song stands out greatly from the others. Although The Final Bell is very melodic it is far from sad. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit.
