After debuting at No. 1 last week, Spandau Ballet’s album True falls to No. 2 with 615,000, a sales slide of 66%. Lead single “Lifeline” and “Pleasure” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Ivan Grach has compared writing for Spandau Ballet’s new album to that on ‘True’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Spandau Ballet ever.
The first time I listened to Pleasure I was struck by its exquisite sound. Heaven Is A Secret makes a person feel astounding. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. Foundation is probably the most interesting track on True. I came to like Communication. Code Of Love is the more seemingly obscure song on True that bear up best to repeated listening. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener.
