‘Shool Days’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Stanley Clarke was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Stanley Clarke and Shool Days together. On Shool Days album, Stanley Clarke have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Shool Days.
Quiet Afternoon is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: The Dancer, which shows, blatantly, how much Stanley Clarke has evolved as a singer. Desert Song is beautiful, yet underrated track. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Hot Fun is my favorite song on Shool Days. Life Is Just A Game is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade.
