Self-described as New Age with lots of words, Stephan Micus comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. I am not a real New Age music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Koan’ really is amazing. On Koan album, Stephan Micus have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. To me Stephan Micus is the best band ever.
Part Ii (Zither, Gender, Shakuhachi) is a striking and quite long song. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Part Iiib (Rabab, Sarangi, Bodhran, Angklung) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Koan have ended. Part Iv (Kyeezee, Burmese Bells, 2 Vocal) is the album’s biggest hit, I think. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor.
