This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by The Battlefield Band. There is so much to love about The Battlefield Band, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. On At the Front album, The Battlefield Band have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. At the Front is not something you should pass up.
One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Lady Carmichael, South of the Grampians, Mickie Ainsworth because the melody in the chorus is so good. I can’t stop humming along The Bachelor. Ge Do Theid Mi Do M’leabiadh is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Vocals of The Battlefield Band in The Battle of Harlaw really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. The sound in Jenny Nettles-the Grays of Tongside is really warm and The Battlefield Band’s signature voice is still very much present. Tae the Beggin’ is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. The Blackbird and the Thrush-T makes a person feel perfect. Lang Jonnie Moir marked the continuation of The Battlefield Band in style evolution. The Brown Milkmaid-Dunnottar C is beautiful, yet underrated track. Stirling Castle-Earl of Mansfield - My least favorite song on this album. The Tamosher is the funkiest number on the album.
