After seeing Zoo-music Girl, I had to have a good The Birthday Party cd. This fourteen-song debut EP shows the promise that The Birthday Party has. Jim Jones has compared writing for The Birthday Party’s new album to that on ‘Prayers On Fire’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This album is a scorcher!
Cry - This is a very lively song. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Nick The Stripper has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Ho-ho - A nice song. Figure Of Fun on Prayers On Fire is solid and easy to listen to. King Ink is one of the coolest songs The Birthday Party has ever recorded. This song stands out greatly from the others. Yard is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything The Birthday Party released so far. I have all of The Birthday Party’s tracks and Dull Day is probably the most his introspective effort. Nice and different song. I love the melodic melody of Blundertown and to this day it makes me feel good. I hope to keep hearing The Birthday Party works for a long time to come.
