Since The Byrds last CD (…in The Beginning) on ForeFront Records back in 1964, I have felt a massive void in my life. …in The Beginning isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. For older fans …in The Beginning will put a massive smile accross your face. Another great offering from The Byrds.
Boston is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. The Only Girl I Adore is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is You Won’t Have To Cry because the melody in the chorus is so good. I Knew I’d Want You is another favourite of mine. The Airport Song marked the continuation of The Byrds in style evolution. The Reason Why - This one is lively and fun. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Mr. Tambourine Man from the beginning to the end. Please Let Me Love You is a gorgeous song and it grows on you. Simple and heartfelt closing track You Movin’ closes …in The Beginning on a high note. I like the agression and power of It Won’t Be Wrong. First time I heard You Showed Me was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.I was truly moved when I heard She Has A Way. Song For Me Again is actually a funny song. It’s No Use is amazing and different song. Here Without You is a bit different from The Byrds stereotypical stuff. After you’ve listened to Tomorrow Is A Long Ways Away (Acoustic Version), most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate.
