Since The Circle Jerks last CD (Golden Shower of Hits) on SixSteps records back in 1983, I have felt a massive void in my life. On Golden Shower of Hits album, The Circle Jerks have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This is the first studio album from The Circle Jerks since bad diagnosis in 1983. This album is a scorcher!
Parade Of The Horribles is one of these floating songs. Once you hear Under The Gun, you will listen to it over and over. When The Shit Hits The Fan is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. I like Bad Words because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Red Blanket Room is the perfect blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of The Circle Jerks. This track is full of harmonies and gets Golden Shower of Hits off to a relaxing start. Product Of My Environment is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Rats Of Reality is the more seemingly obscure song on Golden Shower of Hits that bear up best to repeated listening. Music in Junk Mail is gorgeous as in all tracks of Golden Shower of Hits. I’ve found myself listening to Golden Shower Of Hits (Jerks On 45): Along Comes Mary/Close To You/Af back to back and back many times.
