This -song debut EP shows the promise that The Doors has. After debuting at No. 1 last week, The Doors’s album Legacy - The Absolute Best (CD 1) falls to No. 2 with 828,000, a sales slide of 95%. Since completing 1983’s ‘Not To Touch The Earth’, The Doors fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This album is a scorcher!
Five To One - This one is lively and fun. The Doors offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. The Unknown Soldier is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Hello, I Love You is one of the coolest songs The Doors has ever recorded. Strange Days is a medium tempo tune. Moonlight Drive motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. A unique and uplifting song. When The Music’s Over can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what The Doors is all about. People Are Strange is the album’s biggest hit, I think. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. The End - A strong beat. Soul Kitchen - a classic song. Break On Through (To The Other Side) (2:29) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Put Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar) into car stereo for your highway driving The Crystal Ship is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. The Doors allows each song to breathe and flourish. Light My Fire is the song that really did it for me. Back Door Man - Okay, I just talked about depth.
