The Kinks’s debut, ‘State of confusion’, does not fit easily into one genre. While no new The Kinks album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1983 tour in Africa. For older fans State of confusion will put a massive smile accross your face. Overall, I would highly recommend State of confusion CD.
Overall a nice softer song. Labour Of Love is probably the most interesting track on State of confusion. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Come Dancing, which shows, blatantly, how much The Kinks has evolved as a singer. Property gives taste of what makes The Kinks special as a musician. Don’t Forget To Dance is another strong production from The Kinks. Young Conservatives - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. I like to sing along with Heart Of Gold, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Cliches Of The World (B Movie) is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Bernadette is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Don’t Forget To Dance (original extended edit) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. The song feels complete. Long Distance hits the heart. Noise is a romantic if not formulaic ditty.
