When you buy a The Stranglers album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Now signed to The Stranglers’s Mute Records, the title track from second album “The Collection (1977-1982)” leads The Stranglers’s back-to-school campaign. While no new The Stranglers album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1982 tour in South America. To me The Stranglers is the best band ever.
I like the idea behind Peaches. Hanging Around is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in The Collection (1977-1982). Duchess is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. The Stranglers must have run out of lyrics on the next track Walk On By. Waltzin’ Black is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Nice’n'Sleazy is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Bear Cage is almost impossible to review. Who Wants The World is cool work of The Stranglers. Charming song, great melody. Strange Little Girl - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of The Stranglers. La Folie is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction.
