Since completing 1963’s ‘Goodnight Irene’, The Ventures fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is one of the best Cd’s The Ventures has dropped to date. The Ventures was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from The Ventures and Bobby Vee Meets The Ventures together. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Bobby Vee Meets The Ventures. Linda Lu is probably the most interesting track on Bobby Vee Meets The Ventures. No The Ventures song has come close to capturing my attention as Caravan did. What Else Is New is excellent work of The Ventures. Candy Man is the funkiest number on the album. Music of This Is Where Frienship Ends is gentle, never overbearing. After about the third Honeycomb listen through, I began to believe this song is The Ventures’s essence. I like the idea behind Pretty Girls Everywhere. Some call Wild Night from Bobby Vee Meets The Ventures as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. The Ventures sings I’m Gonna Sit Right Down And W in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Opening track If I’m Right Or Wrong shows the best of The Ventures. Charming song, great melody. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Bobby Vee Meets The Ventures.
