While no new The Ventures album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1972 tour in South America. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of The Ventures on ‘Beethoven’s Sonata In C# Minor’. Now signed to The Ventures’s EMI Records, the title track from second album “Joy - Play The Classics” leads The Ventures’s back-to-school campaign. Joy - Play The Classics touched my soul like nothing else.
I came to like One Fine Day (Un Bel Di). Nice and different song. Swan Lake - The Ventures first major hit. Bach’s Prelude is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Peter and The Wolf presents the marvelous mix of instruments on Joy - Play The Classics. The Ventures sings his heart out in Mozart Forty. First time I heard Joy (Jesu Joy Of Man Desiring) was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing. The sound in Elise is really warm and The Ventures’s signature voice is still very much present. Ravel’s Pavane is perfect. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Melody Of Joy is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song.
