While no new The Ventures album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1963 tour in North America. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of The Ventures on ‘Memphis’. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that The Ventures has. One of The Ventures’s best albums yet.
This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. I believe El Watusi is one of the most excellent, heartfelt songs ever written. Walk Right In is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. The Ventures emotions are reflected through Sukiyaki. New Orleans is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. So Fine is the more seemingly obscure song on Let’s Go! that bear up best to repeated listening. Wipe Out can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what The Ventures is all about. Hot Pastrami catches attention immediately, Runaway one of the best in my collection. Excellent vocals and musical performances.
