When you buy a The Ventures album, you know exactly what you’re getting! It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of The Ventures energies, virtually a rebirth. Ivan Grach has compared writing for The Ventures’s new album to that on ‘Now Playing’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Now Playing touched my soul like nothing else.
So much energy, so exciting a sound.The Man With The Golden Gun gives taste of what makes The Ventures special as a musician. Album opener Last Tango In Paris is a bright, upbeat ditty. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. The Sounds Of Silence is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Georgy Girl - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Theme, Airport 1975 is one of the best records ever. The Morning After is the most memorable and cool. Live and Let Die is one of my favorite songs by The Ventures. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with The Pink Panther Theme. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. I can’t stop humming along Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head. The Ventures allows each song to breathe and flourish. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Theme From Lawrence Of Arabia.
