Swamp Rock isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. It’s natural for The Ventures to take a stab at ‘Carry Me Back’ considering her long-professed love for Madonna. This album has some very good songs like Carry Me Back and Honky Tonk Women. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
First time I heard Honky Tonk Women was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Muddy Missisipi Line is really the reason why I recommend buying Swamp Rock. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. The sound of Swamp Rock is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Niki Hoeky still maintains something of a specific flourish. Green River is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Suspicious Minds is a very catchy tune. Catfish Mud Dance is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Proud Mary is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. As always, The Ventures’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Plaquemines Parish which is my favorite is a truly The Ventures sounding song. Get Swamp Rock and turn on Prima Vera if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Opening track Honky Tonk (Part Ii) shows the best of The Ventures.
