The Ventures’s debut, ‘Tv Themes’, does not fit easily into one genre. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of The Ventures on ‘Charlie’s Angels’. This disc has all of the essential The Ventures classics. This album is a scorcher!
Medical Centre - This is a very lively song. Star Trek is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track The Ventures ever produced. Streets Of San Francisco is probably the most interesting track on Tv Themes. Starsky and Hutch - A classic The Ventures track. Music of Baretta’s Theme is gentle, never overbearing. Opening track Hawaii Five-O shows the best of The Ventures. I like the agression and power of S.W.A.T.. Police Story without a doubt is the standout song of Tv Themes. M.A.S.H. is the funkiest number on the album. Police Woman is the albums biggest surprise. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Mission Impossible is The Ventures’s best work in years.
