John Digester has compared writing for The Ventures’s new album to that on ‘Wild Things’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. After seeing Wild Thing, I had to have a good The Ventures cd. There is so much to love about The Ventures, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Overall, I would highly recommend Wild Things CD.
Fuzzy And Wild as a highlight of Wild Things contains a ton of perfect melodies. Sweet Pea motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Wild And Wooly is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything The Ventures released so far. Wild Child - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Summer In The City can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what The Ventures is all about. The Pied Piper is a cool sing-along. I believe Wild Trip is one of the most astounding, heartfelt songs ever written. In Hanky Panky you won’t find any flashy solos. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. How Now Wild Cow is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. After you’ve listened to The Work Song, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. After about the third Classical Gas listen through, I began to believe this song is The Ventures’s essence. Kickstand without a doubt is the standout song of Wild Things. First time I heard The Mercenary was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.
