Since Throbbing Gristle last CD (20 Jazz Funk Greats) on EMI Records back in 1978, I have felt a massive void in my life. 20 Jazz Funk Greats carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Lead single “20 Jazz Funk Greats” and “Beachy Head” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
I like Beachy Head because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. One listen to the sheer beauty of Still Walking was all I needed. Album opener Tanith is a bright, upbeat ditty. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Convincing People from the beginning to the end. Exotica is beautiful, yet underrated track. I love the melodic melody of Hot On The Heels Of Love and to this day it makes me feel good. Persuasion to me is the best you can get from Throbbing Gristle. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. What A Day defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. I came to like Six Six Sixties. Throbbing Gristle sings his heart out in Discipline (Berlin). Discipline (Manchester) can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Throbbing Gristle is all about.
