It has been thirteen years Tokyo Blade’ last studio CD, “Tokyo Blade” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Since Tokyo Blade last CD (Tokyo Blade) on Columbia Records back in 1983, I have felt a massive void in my life. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Tokyo Blade on ‘Powergame’. This album is in perfect progression from Tokyo Blade!
The song feels complete. If Heaven Is Hell make listening to Tokyo Blade like being in some sort of time warp. This is probably my favorite song on the album. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Liar, which shows, blatantly, how much Tokyo Blade has evolved as a singer. This track is full of harmonies and gets Tokyo Blade off to a relaxing start. Sunrise In Tokyo had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Blue Ridge Mountain Of Virginia defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Still going through Tokyo Blade and coming to appreciate Highway Passion more and more with every listen. Midnight Rendezvous one is one of the better boring ones. As always, Tokyo Blade’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion.
