On Tri-Yann An Naoned album, Tri Yann have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Lead single “Les Filles Des Forges (Pilenu)” and “La Vierge A La Fontaine” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is one of the best Cd’s Tri Yann has dropped to date. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Tri-Yann An Naoned.
La Vierge A La Fontaine - Okay, I just talked about depth. Pastourelle De Saint-Julien - Maraichine has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Tri Yann’s strong vocals come to the fore. A unique and uplifting song. After you’ve listened to Before Ireland Can Go Free - Ye Jacobites, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Les Filles D’Escoublac is a perfect song and it grows on you. Johnny Monfarleau pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. La Calibourdaine De Breca - My least favorite song on this album. Les Prisons Des Nantes is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. An Alarc’h as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Le Dauphin one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. Once you hear Au Pied D’Un Rosier (Larid, you will listen to it over and over.
