It’s natural for Vangelis to take a stab at ‘Reve’ considering her long-professed love for East 17. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Vangelis on ‘Reve’. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Vangelis’s album Sensitivity Plus Alpha [Live, Paris’78] falls to No. 2 with 794,000, a sales slide of 97%. This is my first Vangelis Album and i must say i am blown away.
Album opener Lenfant is a bright, upbeat ditty. The opening track Mare Tranquilitatis 1 / The Dragon is very much like you would expect from other albums. Pulstar - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Excerpt From “La Fete Sauvage”, which shows, blatantly, how much Vangelis has evolved as a singer. This song may be the most meaningful. Spiral / Alpha [Reprise] is nothing but pure genius.
