Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Various Artists on ‘Discorama’. While no new Various Artists album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1961 tour in Asia. Lead single “Discorama” and “Discorama” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Smart music for smart people.
I can’t stop humming along Discorama. Discorama still maintains something of a specific flourish. Noel Lefebvre 01 - Je vis demain matin (risque de mort compris) is another favourite of mine. Noel Lefebvre 02 - Benoit misere les yeux trempes de beaute is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. One listen to the sheer beauty of Noel Lefebvre 03 - Tu nous chantes le pauvre Boeuf Leo was all I needed. Noel Lefebvre 04 - La minorite de la nuit is another strong production from Various Artists. D hier et d aujourd hui 1 one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. D hier et d aujourd hui 2 - Okay, I just talked about depth. Don’t judge D hier et d aujourd hui 3 on the first listening. D hier et d aujourd hui 4 is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. I think Discorama is the best song Various Artists has ever done. I love the melodic melody of Noel Lefebvre 05 - Je reviendrai dans mille ans and to this day it makes me feel good. As always, Various Artists’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. The song Mirages 2 ending is my favorite… so catchy! Lyrics of RMC are precise and evocative. Pop Club is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Radioscopie is one of these floating songs. Radio libre 1 is the funkiest number on the album. The first time I listened to Radio libre 2 I was struck by its exquisite sound. I like the idea behind Radio libre 3. Various Artists sings his heart out in Radio libre 4. Various Artists must have run out of lyrics on the next track Ecran Total. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Radio Bleue from the beginning to the end. Christine Bravo is such a gorgeous and optimistic song that things can get just better. The opening track Radio Bleue 1 is very much like you would expect from other albums. Radio Bleue 2 is one of the best records ever. Radio Bleue 3 is a excellent sing-along. Radio Bleue 4 is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle.
