ten years ago, Various Artists briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Maledetta primavera (Loretta Goggi)”. Sanremo 1981 carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Ivan Grach has compared writing for Various Artists’s new album to that on ‘Sanremo 1981′ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Sanremo 1981 is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
Maledetta primavera (Loretta Goggi) catches attention immediately, Don’t judge Tu cosa fai stasera (Dario Baldan Bembo) on the first listening. Roma Spogliata (Luca Barbarossa) is a good listen every once in a while. Sara’ Perch Ti Amo (Ricchi E Poveri) is the albums biggest surprise. Hop hop somarello (Paolo Barabani) is the more seemingly obscure song on Sanremo 1981 that bear up best to repeated listening. Ma chi te lo fa fare (Marinella) is the most memorable and excellent. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. In Angela (Leano Morelli) you won’t find any flashy solos. Caff nero bollente (Fioorella Mannoia) is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Various Artists offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Follow me (Phil Carmen & Chris Thompson) is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. In I ragazzi che si amano (I Collage) the music gets its power. IO mi (Stefano Tosi) - A nice song. Various Artists allows each song to breathe and flourish. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Pensa per te (Marcella Bella) has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Questo amore non si tocca (Gianni Bella) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Sanremo 1981 have ended. Su quel pianeta libero (Miche Zarrillo) - This is a very lively song.
