Lead single “Long Way From Home” and “Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Since completing 1979’s ‘Long Way From Home’, Whitesnake fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Whitesnake on ‘Long Way From Home’. One of Whitesnake’s best albums yet.
The first time I listened to Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues I was struck by its amazing sound. Whitesnake sings Help Me Thro The Day in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Listening to Medicine Man you can hear that Whitesnake has still amazing chemistry with band members. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. Mean Business is the more seemingly obscure song on Lovehunter that bear up best to repeated listening. This song is dynamic and dramatic. This is one hell of a track. First time I heard Rock ‘n’ Roll Women was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing. We Wish You Well is another strong production from Whitesnake.
